We all wake up each day and look in the mirror. We check ourselves. Sometimes we might notice something new. Most days it’s just a simple acknowledgment of who we see: Yeah, that’s me.
Thanks Constance. We need to keep trying to create the mirror. Another way of articulating the challenge is: how can we (and especially leaders) talk to *everyone*? I try to do that in what I write. Hope you are hanging in there. xo
Interesting piece. But like everything else in life, mirrors are often foggy with self-perception. Those who most need to see themselves clearly, do not.
Oh, what I wouldn’t give for a mirror that tells my mind the truth. As someone with body image issues, I’d love - for once - to see my truth. I’d also love to know when my opinions are being clouded by others (since my algorithm is admittedly biased)… and for the same gift of the “truth mirror” to be given to our whole country (esp a certain subset of our population.)
It seems, sadly, that Americans no longer have a collective mirror. When we hold up the mirror we see only ourselves and those who agree with us.

Thanks for reading, Bronwyn. And thanks for all the resistance writing & organizing you're doing.
